USC Aiken Hands AASU Volleyball First PBC Loss, 3-1


AIKEN, S.C. - The USC Aiken volleyball squad continued its mastery of Armstrong Atlantic State in the USCA Convocation Center, winning its third straight match over the Pirates in its new home building with a 3-1 victory on Saturday afternoon in Aiken, S.C.

The Pacers (10-4, 2-1 PBC) held the Pirates (8-4, 1-1 PBC) to a .128 hitting percentage in winning for a third straight year over AASU at home. 

No Pirate player recorded double-digit kills as senior Amy Birkemeier led AASU with eight on the afternoon. Sophomore Casey Howett led all players defensively with 21 digs, while freshman Kristin Standhardinger tallied 33 assists.

USC Aiken was led by Lindsay Mortenson's 11 kills, Lauren Cedeno's 29 assists and 10 digs and Samantha Lukralle's 20 digs.

The Pirates return to action on Friday, September 25, with a 7:30 p.m. Peach Belt Conference match against league newcomer Montevallo in Savannah.
