Remlinger, Pirates Plunder Bearcats, 3-0

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Senior Michele Remlinger set a new single-match school record, hitting .846 with 11 kills and no errors in 13 attacks in Armstrong Atlantic State's 3-0 Peach Belt Conference volleyball victory over visiting Lander on Friday evening in Savannah.
Remlinger and the Pirates (21-7, 8-2 PBC) remained one game behind conference-leading Flagler in the chase for the Peach Belt title, as the Saints swept past USC Aiken in three on Friday. Lander (17-12, 5-7 PBC) has now lost three straight PBC matches.
The senior from Kalida, Ohio, eclipsed the previous hitting percentage mark of .818, set by Cindy Pound against Voorhees on September 14, 1992. She holds five of the top six single-match hitting percentages in school history and, after leading the PBC in hitting percentage a season ago, is currently hitting .356 on the season.
As a team, the Pirates hit a season-high .430 with 48 kills and just 11 errors in 86 attacks. Lander hit .000 with 18 kills and errors in 97 attempts.
Remlinger was the only player from either team to reach double figures in kills, as she also added a match-high six blocks on the evening. Freshmen Kristin and Kathrin Standhardinger each collected eight kills for the Pirates, with Kristin notching 37 assists and Torrie Bevolo leading all players on the night defensively with 15 digs.
Lander was led by reigning AVCA DII National Player of the Week Melissa McCracken, who had eight kills and four errors in 34 attacks for a .118 hitting percentage. Candace LaRocca tallied 13 assists and Ashley Ferry notched 10 digs.
AASU returns to action on Saturday with a 3:00 p.m. PBC match against USC Aiken. Lander travels down I-95 to face conference-leading Flagler on Saturday, also at 3:00 p.m.
