Pirates Notch 3-1 Win Over Francis Marion On Friday

FLORENCE, S.C. - Amy Birkemeier recorded 13
kills to rally Armstrong Atlantic State University to a 22-25,
25-18, 25-19, 25-19 Peach Belt Conference win over Francis Marion
University, Friday night (Oct. 2) in women’s volleyball
action.
The Patriots drop to 7-8 overall and 2-4 in the PBC, while AASU is
now 12-5 and 4-2.
Francis Marion will entertain conference-leading Flagler College
(13-8, 6-1) on Saturday at 2 p.m. AASU will play at UNC Pembroke on
Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
Behind Birkemeier for AASU, Kathrin Standhardinger had 12 kills and
a .524 hitting percentage with only one error, and Michele
Remlinger had 10 kills and seven blocks. Freshman setter Kristin
Standhardinger registered 43 assists and 10 digs, while sophomore
libero Casey Howett recorded 21 digs.
Sophomore Ashlyn Underhill led FMU with 13 kills and 13 digs.
Senior setter Jess O’Leary compiled 19 assists, while
sophomore Hallie Legg had 16 assists. Legg also tallied two service
aces and 13 digs. Junior libero Kelsie Deaton dug up 16 balls as
did sophomore Ashlee Crook.
