AASU Soccer Finishes 2009 Season Ranked No. 23

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Armstrong Atlantic State women's soccer squad is ranked No. 23 in the final NSCAA Division II Top 25 coaches' rankings, released today by the organization.
It is the first time that the Pirates (16-4-3) have appeared in the season-ending NSCAA Division II Top 25 poll. Armstrong Atlantic State captured the program's first-ever Peach Belt Conference tournament championship in 2009, as well as notching the program's first-ever NCAA postseason win with a 5-0 blanking of Belmont Abbey in the first round of the Southeast Regional.
AASU is joined in the Top 25 poll by fellow PBC school Columbus State, who checks in at No. 11. One other team that the Pirates faced during the 2009 season is also in the rankings - No. 24 Florida Tech.
