Kristin Burton Earns First Team Daktronics All-America Honors

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Senior forward Kristin Burton has been named to the Daktronics NCAA Division II Women's Soccer All-America first team, announced today by the organization and CoSIDA.
The three-time PBC Player of the Year and all-time leading goal scorer in Peach Belt Conference history, Burton was one of four forwards on the first team. The Ocala, Fla., native currently ranks second in NCAA Division II in points per game (3.30) and third in goals per game (1.348) while setting an AASU single-season record by tallying 31 goals in 2009.
Burton's 95 career goals rank seventh all-time in NCAA Division II history, with her 225 points also ranking seventh all-time.
A third-team All-American honoree in 2008 by Daktronics and CoSIDA, Burton has earned All-American honors now in all four of her years as a Pirate, including three-time ESPN: The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.
Burton was not the only Pirate to be recognized by Daktronics as freshman midfielder Morgan Mitchell earned Honorable Mention All-America honors. The Lilburn, Ga., native tallied 12 goals and seven assists in her freshman campaign for the Pirates.
Sports Information Directors from NCAA DII schools and conferences selected the three Daktronics All-America teams. The process begins at the regional level with all first-team all-region picks advancing to the national ballot. This is the fourth year Daktronics has sponsored the NCAA DII Women's Soccer All-America and all-region teams. A total of 39 student-athletes representing 23 different institutions filled out the three teams.
