Pirates Remain Fourth In NCAA Southeast Region Rankings


SAVANNAH, Ga. - The No. 21-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State women's soccer squad remained fourth in the latest NCAA Southeast Region rankings, released today. The rankings are the final ones prior to the announcement of the 2009 NCAA DII Women's Soccer Championships selections, which will be made on Monday, November 9, at 7:00 p.m.

The top six teams in the region rankings remained the same with the Pirates (13-3-3) coming in behind Carson-Newman, Columbus State and Tusculum. Newberry checks in at No. 5, followed by Catawba, Lander, Wingate, GCSU and Lenoir-Rhyne.

The Pirates will face the seventh-ranked Lander Bearcats in the 2009 PBC Soccer Championship semifinals on Friday at 5:00 p.m.

AASU has a composite 3-1-2 record against teams ranked in the latest Southeast Region rankings, and an overall 4-2-3 overall record against NCAA regionally-ranked squads.

Three automatic bids will be awarded to the tournament champions of the Peach Belt, the South Atlantic and Conference Carolinas, with three at-large bids awarded to the top remaining ranked teams in the Southeast Region.

The NCAA DII Soccer Championships will begin on Friday, November 13, at region sites around the country.
