Soccer Hosts UNC Pembroke In PBC First Round Tuesday

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Armstrong Atlantic State women's soccer squad will be the No. 2 seed in the upcoming 2009 Peach Belt Conference Championships with the release of the tournament field today.
The Pirates (12-3-3, 8-2 PBC) will host seventh-seed UNC Pembroke (10-7-1, 4-5-1 PBC) on Tuesday, November 3, at 2:00 p.m. in a first-round match at AT&T Field.
The two teams met just eight days ago with the Pirates taking a 5-1 win at UNC Pembroke. AASU and the Braves have met in PBC Tournament play once previously - a 1-0 victory in the first round of the 2006 tournament in Savannah.
The winner of the match will advance to the PBC's "Final Four" on Nov. 6-8 at Blanchard Woods Park in Evans, Ga.
The rest of the matchups pit top-seed and PBC regular season champion CSU (15-1-3, 8-1-1 PBC) against eighth-seed Montevallo (6-8-3, 3-5-2 PBC) in Columbus; Third-seeded Lander (10-3-2, 6-3-1 PBC) against sixth-seeded Flagler (8-8-1, 4-5-1 PBC) in Greenwood; and fourth-seeded GCSU (9-5-5, 5-1-4 PBC) against fifth-seeded North Georgia (10-4-2, 6-3-1 PBC) in Milledgeville.
