No. 18 Lady Lakers Use Big Second Half To Down AASU


MORROW, Ga. - The No. 18-ranked Clayton State Lady Lakers shot 52.5 percent in the second half, snapping a 33-all halftime tie to come away with an 83-64 victory over visiting Armstrong Atlantic State on Wednesday evening in Morrow, Ga.

Clayton State (15-3, 6-2 PBC) hit 21-of-40 shots from the floor after halftime en route to 50 points after the break, while the Lady Lakers held AASU (6-11, 3-6 PBC) to just 10-of-27 shots from the floor (37 percent) and just 1-of-9 from three-point range in the second half.

Tanisha Woodard led a trio of Lady Lakers in double figures scoring with 23 points on 9-of-20 shooting from the floor, including 5-of-8 from three-point range. Teshymia Tillman added 16 points and six assists, while LaDe'Sha Stoudamire notched a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

The Lady Pirates were led by senior Portia Jones, who hit 6-of-11 shots from the floor, including 3-of-8 three-pointers, en route to 17 points. Senior Lauren Hall added 15 points as well for AASU.

Clayton State forced 20 turnovers on the night by the Lady Pirates while also recording 24 assists.

AASU returns home after the three-game road swing on Saturday, January 30, with a 1:30 p.m. Peach Belt Conference contest against North Georgia at Alumni Arena.
