Jessica Strong Earns Softball Academic Honors

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Senior outfielder Jessica Strong has been named to the ESPN: The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District III Softball team, as well as the Peach Belt Conference's All-Academic team, released today.
A three-year standout for the Pirates as well as the AASU President's Cup honoree, given to the top male and female student-athlete annually by the Savannah Exchange Club, Strong carries a 3.97 GPA in mathematics. The senior is the first first-team ESPN: The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree in softball for the Pirates since 2006 and will advance to the national ballot for possible Academic All-America honors.
Strong also earned PBC All-Academic Team honors in the first year that the conference has selected a sport-by-sport All-Academic team. A native of Fountain Valley, Calif., Strong also earned second-team All-PBC honors and All-PBC Tournament honors this year.
She currently ranks sixth in the PBC in batting average at a .375 clip and also ranks among the league's leaders in home runs (6) and RBIs (36).
