Men's Golf Finishes 8th At Kiawah Island Invitational


KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - The Armstrong Atlantic State men's golf team shot a final-round 302 on Tuesday and finished in eighth place at the Kiawah Island Invitational, hosted by USC Aiken at Cougar Point Golf Club.

The Pirates' two-day 598 total was 27 strokes off the pace set by top-ranked GCSU, who finished with a two-day 571 total, five under par, to capture the team title. USC Beaufort finished second with a 578 total, followed by Belmont Abbey (584), North Alabama (587) and Indianapolis (589).

Freshman Jacob Tilton shot a three-over-par 75 and finished 23rd individually with a 148 total to pace the Pirates. Sophomore Matt Motes carded a five-over-par 77 and finished tied for 24th individually with a 149 total. Junior David Patterson shot a second-round 78 and finished tied for 49th with a 154 total.

Sophomore Dustin Allen shot an 80 and finished tied for 52nd with a 155 total. Freshman Tyler Erickson rebounded from an 87 on Monday to shoot the team's best round on Tuesday with an even-par 72, finishing tied for 63rd with a 159 total.

The Pirates return to action on October 5 and 6 at the CSU Cougar Invitational at Green Island Country Club.
