USC Aiken Takes Completed Game Three, 16-3, On Monday

SAVANNAH, GA. - USC Aiken scored 13 runs on Monday, finishing off a three-game Peach Belt Conference baseball sweep of host Armstrong Atlantic with a 16-3 win in the completion of a rain-suspended game from Sunday.
The Pacers (25-14, 10-8 PBC) led, 3-2, after four innings when Sunday's second game of a doubleheader was halted by rain. But USC Aiken scored three runs in the sixth inning and never looked back in handing the Pirates (26-13, 6-9 PBC) their second PBC sweep of the season.
Ken Raborn collected a 5-for-5 day with a double and a home run for the Pacers, while Travis Howard drove in four, including a three-run home run in an eight-run eighth inning. Reliever Chad Benefield (3-1) was the beneficiary of the offense as he pitched five innings of three-hit, one-run ball, striking out six to pick up the win for the Pacers.
AASU starter Blake Culberson was saddled with the loss for the Pirates, giving up five hits and three runs in four innings pitched on Sunday, striking out three, to fall to 3-2 on the season. John Roberts drove in a pair with a two-RBI single in the fourth, while Alex Wyche provided the only offense of the day on Monday with an RBI single.
The Pirates return to action on Tuesday, April 7, with a 3:00 p.m. contest at Pfeiffer.
