Pirates Blast Kutztown, 15-5, In Friday Savannah Invitational Action

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Every starter got at least one hit as the Armstrong Atlantic State baseball squad picked up a 15-5 win over visiting Kutztown on Friday afternoon in continuing 2009 Savannah Invitational action at Pirate Field.
The Pirates (10-8) won their fourth straight contest, while Kutztown dropped to 12-4 on the season.
AASU plated a single run in the first inning on a Kenny Cail two-out RBI single, then scored five runs in the second inning, highlighted by Alex Wyche's two-RBI single. The Pirates plated another run in the fourth, but broke the game wide open in the fifth with seven runs, including a two-RBI single by Michael Price.
That was more than enough offense for Pirate starter Cody Walden, who improved to 3-1 on the season by hurling six innings of four-hit ball, giving up two runs while walking one and striking out four. Anthony Fegely took the loss for Kutztown, giving up six hits and six runs in 1 1/3 innings pitched.
Price finished the day with three hits and three runs scored, while Drew Carnes and Justin Harris also enjoyed three-hit days.
Kutztown was led by Brad Stoudt's two hits, James Quigley's two-RBI double and Mark Renda's RBI double.
The Pirates return to action on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. by hosting California (Pa.) in continuing Savannah Invitational action at Pirate Field.
