AASU Tennis To Be Featured On CBS Sports Saturday

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Armstrong Atlantic State men's and women's tennis teams' 2009 NCAA Division II National Championships will be featured this Saturday on CBS Sports during the networks' annual NCAA Spring Sports championship wrapup show.
For the seventh consecutive year, all 88 NCAA championships will receive television exposure, including 17 spring sports being featured in a one-hour special. CBS Sports Presents Championships of the NCAA will air at 2 p.m. Eastern, Saturday, July 4, on CBS Sports. Highlights and stories from NCAA baseball, golf, rowing, softball, tennis and outdoor track & field will be featured in the program.
The AASU men's tennis team captured its second straight NCAA Championship with a 5-4 victory over Barry in Altamonte Springs on May 16. Meanwhile, the AASU women's tennis team notched its fifth NCAA Championship with a 5-2 victory over Lynn.
Before the matches, AASU head coach Simon Earnshaw, senior men's player Paul Bishop and junior women's players Martina Beckmann and Gabriella Kovacs were interviewed by CBS Sports cameras to talk about the national championship run.
Through the NCAA-CBS 11-year bundled rights agreement, CBS Sports has aired 20 seasonal shows from the three NCAA championship seasons (fall, winter, spring) over the last seven years. Each seasonal show features highlights and unique NCAA student-athlete stories from a variety of NCAA Division II and III championships.
